Ages 5-7
Saturdays 9 - 10 am
What We Teach:
🥋 Safe Landing and Falling Techniques – Learn how to fall safely to prevent injury and build confidence in movement.
🥋 Groundwork Skills, Including Holds and Escapes – Develop essential groundwork techniques to control or escape from opponents.
🥋 Beginner Throws – Start with simple throws on a crash mat to build strength and improve neck stability.
🥋 Balance and Coordination – Fun activities and games to improve motor skills, coordination, and spatial awareness.
🥋Moral code– Learning values (as above) and etiquette, listening to instructors, and respecting others. To make us great human beings.
🥋 Focus and Concentration – Practice focusing/concentration during activities to build mental discipline.
🥋 Teamwork and Friendship – Engage in partner exercises, promoting teamwork and creating strong bonds with peers.
🥋 Confidence Building – Develop self-esteem and confidence through structured activities and personal progress/achievement.
🥋 Grades through the British Judo Association's Syllabus – Work towards earning belts and progressing through the BJA's Sho grading system specifically designed for under 8s.

This is an ideal age to start judo, and many of our Mini Judo students continue training with us into their teenage years and beyond!
Junior Recreational /Beginner Class
Ages 7 (at our discretion) to 9
Saturdays 10 - 11 am
What to Expect:
A relaxed and encouraging introduction to judo for children age 8 - 10 who may need extra help or encouragement to get started before moving on to the twice a week training.
This class is a great way for children to discover judo, helping them grow in both skill and self-belief while having fun!

The Borough Program offers a unique, limited-time opportunity for those looking to explore the world of Judo. This short course is designed as an engaging and dynamic introduction to the sport, running once a year. It provides a fantastic way to get started, A beginners course to skills in a supportive and structured environment.

🥋 Opportunity to Try Competition – Experience the thrill of Judo contests and gain confidence in a competitive setting.
🥋 Judo Fundamentals – Still building on fundamentals but now with more emphasis on dynamic movement.
🥋 Engaging and Fun Games – Keep learning exciting with games designed to enhance Judo skills in a playful way.
🥋 BJA Grading Progression – Work towards achieving Mon grades through the British Judo Association's structured syllabus.

We’re now advancing to more challenging techniques with added complexity. Through a mix of drills, randori, and increased physical training, we focus on pushing skills to the next level. In this class, we’re working towards a black belt, with the goal of achieving it before heading off to university or entering the working world. You’ll also find adults in this class, creating a diverse and motivating training environment.
🥋 Twice a Week - longer Sessions – Now one and a half hour classes. Accelerate your learning with more practice, enhancing muscle memory and physical/cognitive development. Quicker progression and stronger technique reinforcement.
🥋Advanced Setups & Entries – Develop more complex techniques, including combinations, counters, escapes, and sacrifice throws.
🥋Contest Skills – Learn key strategies and techniques for Judo competition. Essential contest skills for competing for Black belt and beyond .
🥋 Competition – Entry into more advance competition for those who are competent while still supporting less experienced player to enter competitions.
🥋 Judo Fundamentals and beyond– Fundamentals with dynamic movement. Progressing into black belt syllabus practise too, including kata for certification.
🥋 BJA Grading Progression – Work towards achieving Kyu/Dan grades through the British Judo Association's structured syllabus.
🥋 Strength & Conditioning – Enhance overall fitness, endurance, and flexibility to support Judo performance. Strengthen essential movement skills through focused drills and exercises. Still building on Coordination & Agility . Within the judo class structure as apposed to gym style. to keep it fun
🥋 Discipline & Focus – Develop mental resilience, self-discipline, and a focus and concentration through Judo practice. and guidance.
