Westcroft Judo Club (Nork)

 The beginnings...

Westcroft JC (Nork) is one of two branches of Westcroft Judo Club which was founded in 1996 in a squash court at Westcroft Leisure Centre.  The founding coaches were Andrew Ede, Mike Sexton and Rachelle Sexton (nee Ede), supported by Mick and Paulene Ede.

Westcroft JC (Nork) was founded by, and is run by, Rachelle and Mike Sexton and has been operating since 2000.

The purpose...

The purpose of the club is to promote and share the benefits of  Kodokan and Olympic Judo with the local community, and in particular the youth in the local area.  The focus is on long term techncial development rather than short term medal accumulation.

Accreditation...

Both branches are members of the British Judo Association (BJA) and have met the stringent standards required for the Bronze level of Clubmark Accreditation and the Active Surrey Gold Club Award since 2006.

The BJA is the National Governing Body for Judo and is the only national judo organisation that is recognised by the International Judo Federation, and therefore recognised world wide.

 Local Partnerships...

We are actively involved in the Reigate and Banstead Sports Council, Surrey Youth Games, London Youth Games, East Surrey Schools Sports Partnership, Royal Alexandra and Albert School and Banstead Junior/Infant Schools.
